How This Median Calculator Works (The Logic)

Understanding how it works is essential for scientific accuracy. When you click the Analyze Data button, the tool performs these specific operations:

  • Data Cleaning: It automatically filters the input to remove accidental spaces or non-numeric characters, ensuring only pure numbers are processed.

  • Sorting: To correctly find the median, the tool sorts your numbers in ascending order (from smallest to largest).

  • Median Calculation:

    • If the data set is odd, it selects the exact middle number.

    • If the data set is even, it calculates the average of the two middle numbers.

  • Mode Detection: It scans the list for the most frequent value. If all numbers appear only once, it displays None.

  • Range Calculation: The tool identifies the Smallest and Largest numbers and subtracts the minimum from the maximum to find the Range.
